New York Claims Most Expensive Hotels in America

It is no secret that New York City is the most expensive place in the United States for a number of things, including real estate. This is thanks to, in large part, the rapid inflation occurring in the luxury mecca known as Manhattan. In a survey conducted by, NYC took the honor for the top seven spots for most expensive hotels in America.

Methodology conducted the survey in September 2015 by comparing luxury hotels in American cities with 500,000 people or more. They looked for the least expensive rates for a double room in October. They considered the rates for only two and three night stays, as longer stays typically result in a lower rate across the board. They also excluded Sundays and Mondays in their research. This is what they discovered.

The Mandarin Oriental and Ritz Carlton Central Park tied for highest honor with a $995 per night average. Baccarat Hotel & Residencies wasn’t far behind with $990 per night and was The St. Regis with its $945 per night price tag. New York City dominated the top ten with only two other cities making the cut: Los Angeles and Las Vegas. The Montage in Beverly Hills had an average $800 per night and the SKYLOFTS at the MGM Grand has an average of $789.

It may be a bit surprising for Las Vegas to make the list, as it is one of the few places where people can stay in luxury for fairly reasonable prices. (The reasoning behind lower rates is they make back the difference with gambling and entertainment.) Below is the full top ten list.
