Odd Collectibles of the Rich and the Famous
What do you consider an odd collectible? Here at Billionaire Luxury, we consider anything not mainstream to be odd. A lot of people collect wine, for example.
We want to know about those less-known bits people collect. Of course, some will always be stranger than others. Here are a few to consider.
People love Johnny Depp. Love him. He’s a talented actor and musician. He also owns his own island. Although he’s not a billionaire, Mr. Depp is by no means poor. He enjoys collecting Beat Generation memorabilia, specifically things owned by author Jack Kerouac. Perhaps a little weirder is his animal skeleton and mounted bug collection!
David Rockefeller Sr.
Seriously, what is with luxury and bugs? The famous businessman and billionaire David Rockefeller (who is also 99 years old by the way!) has an impressive collection of beetles. We’re not talking records by the famous rock band. We mean the bug with two e’s. They’re mounted and dead at least. Imagine having that collection break loose in your mansion?
James Stunt is one of the billionaires on our radar lately and an avid collector at that! The British businessman is no stranger to collecting controversial items, like master paintings. But on the smaller, odder side of things, he also has one of the largest Faberge Cigar Holder collections in the world. Yes, he collects the holders. What’s more: the average price for a Faberge Holder auctioned off at Christies is around $5,000.
First we had Stunt with holders. Now we have Penelope Cruz with coat hangers! Some people may want to collect fancy coats but the Spanish actress prefers collecting non-wire hangers. It is estimated that she has about 500 varieties! We honestly didn’t know there were more than one kind of hanger here at Billionaire Luxury. That’s amazing.
